You must have heard the centuries-old saying, “Like the parents, like the children.”
It’s true that the family environment shapes your behaviour to a great extent. It influences what you become. Your physical traits, your character, and your behaviour all carry the biological blueprint of your parents.
The biological blueprint, called DNA, plays a major role in who you become.
That’s why there is a commonly held belief:
“What the parents are, the children will be the same.”
-The father is a doctor, the children will be the same.
-The father is a teacher, the children will be the same.
-The father is a farmer, the children will be the same.
-The father does any job, the children will do the same.
Now the question is:
◓ If the father is a slave, should the children also become slaves ?
◓ If the father is a gambler, should the children also become gamblers ?
◓ If parents do nothing, should the children also do nothing ?
◓ If parents are involved in immoral acts, should the children also follow them ?
Do you know? The people who say all these, never miss even a single opportunity to show you, to make you feel that you are nothing but the resemblance of your parents.
They will never show you what you really are, and the potential you actually carry, which might be dormant for now.
Yes, it’s true that in most cases, the children become the same as their parents; but not always.
It’s not always true. Sometimes, the children grow up completely opposite of their parents in who they are and what they do.
It’s true that DNA sets the blueprint, but your own ‘experiences’ and ‘choices’ in life shape how that blueprint is built into the final result, and who you finally become.
You could inherit your parents’ colour, height, and other physical traits. But your character? That is completely in your hands, you can craft it through consistent effort and by investing your time in what truly matters in your life.
The environment you get from your family can sometimes feel like the biggest hindrance to what you really want to achieve in your life.
But don’t see it as a hindrance, see it as your furnace.
Forge yourself in that furnace. Maybe you are dealing with piercing stress, unbearable pressure of relatives, society, or even your own parents. But,
⦾ Never lose hope.
⦾ Make your own codes.
⦾ Break the norms.
⦾ Follow your own rules until death.
⦾ Set the boundary, a boundary where no one can enter, not even your family, not even your parents.
This doesn’t mean you disrespect them; it means you are preparing yourself so well that one day, even your parents will be proud of you. The parents who once stood as your biggest hindrance will become your strongest supporters.
Do you know why people around you try to stop you from seeing your trueself?
Because they fear, they fear you could break the norms and become someone they can never surpass, and as a consequence, they will have to envy you for their whole lives.
But the truth is, they can never show you your trueself. Why?
Because,
The only mirror in this world that can show you your trueself, your innermost and unfiltered self, and your true potential, is none but – “You”.
For this,
• You need to be tough.
• You need to take the toughest decisions in life.
• You need to go against the norms, but wisely.
• You need to persistently grind yourself.
• You need to burn the candle at both ends and prove that hard work can actually beat the DNA, because it can.
Because when you are at a place in your life, the life trajectory you left behind should reflect who you are now, and that you never lost your true character. You remained resolute in your determination, even when the whole world was against you.
In the whole journey, you might have achieved nothing but your true character was along with you while you were carving your path with persistence, endurance, and perseverance.
Only then can you prove that you may have your parents’ DNA and physical traits, but your character and who you become, is completely you.
💡 Once a wise man said:
“The best way to predict your future is to create it now.”
So,
“Let not your biological blueprint determine your character.”
“Be the creator of your own character, and ultimately, your destiny.”
And prove that:
» Hard Work Can Beat The DNA, Because It Can.
